The Heart May Freeze

They sat around the table waiting for the Director to join them. Victor sat at one end and Mac and Lianne sat opposite of Fox and Dana. Victor looked at the empty chair opposite of him and looked at his watch. He looked over at Mac, who appeared to be asleep. He grinned to himself and kicked Mac under the table.

Mac jerked awake and looked around. His eyes fell on Victor who was smirking at him. Mac glared at him and then jumped when a hand closed on his shoulder and nails dug into his skin.

“Be nice boys. I don’t want to have to separate you. You work so well together,” the Director purred. She sauntered over to the empty chair and sat down. For once her outfit wasn’t showing more skin then it covered. She looked over at the screen on the wall. “This is Armand Loid. He is a record producer, who sidelines in white slavery. He uses the concerts of his bands to pick out people that will bring a good price. We’ve had an eye on him for a while, but we haven’t had enough information to do anything about him, however we just received some disturbing information. He has been in contact with a well-known Middle East terrorist, we don’t know what they talked about, but I doubt it can be anything good. I want you to find out what it is.

“Mac, Lianne you are going to go to a concert, on us. You will be invited to the back. Find out anything you can on where they take the people that they choose. Fox, Dana you are –“

“Hold on, what’s the name of the band? ‘Cuz if you are sending us to hear a lame band I want to protest now,” Mac cut in.

“You are going to the Hyper Rocks concert.”

“Oh man. They are a great group. Wait, you mean that they are involved the white slavery? Man, that sucks. I’ll never be able to listen to those CDs again.”

The Director barely stopped short of rolling her eyes. “As I was saying, Fox, Dana you are going to visit Loid’s office. Find away to get him out of there and do a little snooping around. Victor, you are going to do a little research.”

“Oh no. Not Nathan,” Victor groaned.

“Yes, Victor, Nathan. You are going to find out how many times Loid has talked with the terrorists and you are going to find out if there are any tapes of the conversations.” She looked at him with an amused set to her face. “You know that you are the only one he really gives information to. He would do anything for a prince of the Illuminati.” She grinned at his wince. “Well don’t just sit around. Go!”
