Yenta The Straw

"Damn it, Jubilee! That's not acceptable. I know you're being trained as a theif, but you gave the professor your word not to steal anything for financial gain!"

"I sent it back! Or to Interpol actually. It's not like I kept it!" she protested.

"Cyke, lay off de petite. She not do not'in' wrong. De necklace on de way t' laRoche. She got t' build a rep." Scott threw up his hands in frustration and stalked into the hallway. He pushed past Storm. She raised a brow at his rudeness. She opened her mouth a moment before he swung around.

"You agree too don't you?"

"About what?" she asked mildly.

"That Jubilee was justified in breaking in to the Richmond museum!"

"She needs to practice. As long as she returned the goods, I see no reason to punish her for practicing her skills."

"She went into this to steal information, Storm!" Storm eyed him nervously. He was violently angry over something that was no more than a prank. "Last time I looked necklaces weren't on the list!"

"Security at the museums are a safer practice arena. Corporate and military institutions have a much larger risk factor. You are being unreasonable, Scott." That was a misstep.

"Unreasonable! I'm trying to keep this team intact! That can only happen if they stay out of jail."

"She would not have been…"

"You have no idea. She could have been caught!"

"Scott, calm down."

"Why the fuck should I calm down?" He shoved her back. Her eyes narrowed. If he wanted to fight he should really track down Logan. Or Remy, his current target of choice. She stepped back to give herself maneuvering room. "Something, someone. Getting caught could expose all of us! Stupid, risk taking behavior. I expect that from Gambit. But for you to support such fucking irresponsibility boggles my mind! I expect better from you, Ro." His hand raised to his glasses and she tensed, preparing to dodge out of the way. He stepped in closer. "Let me guess, you've been keeping in practice as well."

"I do not steal any longer. Gambit made no such pledge to the professor, but has been relatively inactive. I believe we need to gain some perspective on this matter, my friend." He was much closer, cramping her, activating her fears. She readied herself for action.

"I have 'perspective,' hon," Scott snapped. "I've got a team that keeps dwindling. One part-time member, a college student, a baby. Not to mention three thieves, a spy, an assasin. If one of those people gets caught, we're all SOL." He slammed her into the wall. She kicked back and the fight was joined.

Cable skidded to a halt as Storm and Cyclops went viciously after one another. He caught the lamp and vases with a TK cushion. Storm was a wild woman and Cyclops was using every dirty trick he knew. They had to be separated and quickly. Warren stepped out of the library. His eyes widened and he jumped into the fray. He was knocked out of it by a well placed kick to the jaw from Storm. He put a wondering hand to his broken jaw and stayed on the ground where he'd fallen.

Gambit shoved Jubilee back into the den. "Stay outta dis." She nodded.

Logan had been at the edge of the grounds. He caught his breath as he stared at the sight before him. Storm was bleeding from her nose and a bite on her shoulder. He growled. He looked further along the hall and saw Gambit watching them. The younger man bared his teeth in a mocking smile.

Cable did a quick review of who was in the house. Hank, Bobby, Gambit, Jubilee, Storm, Logan, Angel and the baby. He caught the Cajun's eye. He saw rage there and quickly discarded the idea he'd been considering.

There were scratched down Scott's cheek, bleeding sluggishly. His shirt was torn and Storm's was in no better shape. No choice. //You take Storm. I'll get Slymm.// Gambit nodded and launched himself at Storm, knocking her clear as Cable caught Scott in a bubble.

"Hank!" Jubilee's voice rang through the lab, "Incoming!"
