This Boy Could Use Some Stoli

Alex Kryceck-Mansfield was miserable. It was the middle of the night. His room was dark. He couldn't sleep. The pain from his arm throbbed. His head ached from guarding against being drugged up again. He wanted his gun, his knife, something. He was bored. He stared up at the ceiling. He turned towards the door. Silhouetted against the bright rectangle of hallway light was a form he knew better than anyone. She was dressed causally tonight.

She was wearing jeans.

His jeans, he noted angrily. "I wondered where those had gotten to," he stated.

"Well, once you got some muscle on your legs, they didn't fit you properly anymore. Glad to see I didn't wake you."

"Yeah, right."

"That's my Alex. I have something for you. To cheer you up?"

"Murphy and Camier in a compromising position?"

"Hush. Murphy would have you over his knee for a comment like that. Maybe I still will."

"Cory's not dealing with the situation."

"I wasn't in the mood for a romp."

"I'm not at my best." She brushed the hair back on his forehead.

"Poor baby." She pulled at a lock. He gave her a cold smirk. "I think you'll like this surprise," she informed him. She popped a cassette into the VCR and took the remote in her hand, she let down the side rail of the hospital bed. She set it to a seated position and pushed the reluctant patient over with her hip until she was seated next to him. He automatically put his good arm around her shoulder and she snuggled into his side.

"Watch the ribs."

"Hush," she purred.

"Hey, that's Mac's shirt."

"It is, isn't it."

"Witch."

"Just watch." Alex was watching the silk fall off of her shoulder. Navy blue, he thought. It was the shirt that Mac complained had never made it back from the Agency laundry. It should have a bloodstain on the shoulder. Her throat looked very white against it, colored by the grey ambient light. He couldn't resist. He bit her on the collar bone. "Later," she chided, as she leaned back. Alex looked up at the crisp, clear, obviously edited surveillance tape.

"LiAnne. Drinking. This should be interesting."
